- Sade Sati is counted from your Moon sign, your Rashi, on the sidereal zodiac. Your Sun sign plays no part.
- Saturn has been in Meena since 29 March 2025 and enters Mesha on 3 June 2027 (IST).
- 2026: Kumbha final phase, Meena middle phase, Mesha first phase.
- Shani Dhaiya in 2026: Dhanu (Saturn 4th from the Moon) and Simha (8th from the Moon).
- The classics read Sade Sati as a season of responsibility and consolidation, not a curse.
What is Sade Sati?
Sade Sati, literally 'seven and a half', is the stretch in which Shani, Saturn, transits the three signs centred on your Moon: the 12th from your Moon sign, your Moon sign itself, and the 2nd. Saturn spends about two and a half years in each sign, so the whole passage takes about seven and a half years, and it comes round about every 30 years.
- the whole passage
- 7½ yearsthe whole passage
- the 12th from your Moon, your Moon sign and the 2nd
- 3 signsthe 12th from your Moon, your Moon sign and the 2nd
- before it comes round again
- About 30 yearsbefore it comes round again
It is counted from the Moon because Jyotish treats the Moon, Chandra, as the mind and the everyday self. Saturn crossing it is read as a long season that asks for patience, structure and responsibility. It is the single thing people ask Vedic astrologers about most.

The three phases of Sade Sati
First phase (rising)
Saturn in the 12th from your Moon. The tradition reads it as things quietly asking to be simplified: what is loose gets tightened, and what was carried loosely gets weighed.
Middle phase (peak)
Saturn on your Moon sign. The most consolidating stretch of the three: slower and heavier, and the one that tends to leave behind what was actually built, not merely started.
Final phase (setting)
Saturn in the 2nd from your Moon. The settling: family, money and speech come into focus, the weight lifts gradually, and what held through the middle phase is what stays.
Is Sade Sati bad?
Sade Sati has a fearsome reputation, and a good deal of it comes from people selling remedies. The classical view is more balanced. Saturn is the planet of karma, discipline and time, and its passage over the Moon is read as a season that slows results and deepens them. Many people do their most serious work, take on real responsibility, or end what was never right during Sade Sati.
How it feels depends on the rest of your chart: Saturn's own placement and strength, your Lagna, and above all your dasha. For some Lagnas, such as Vrishabha (Taurus) and Tula (Libra), Saturn is a yogakaraka, a planet that brings results, and the tradition reads Sade Sati more gently for them.
We will never tell you something bad is coming to make you open the app.
Shani Dhaiya in 2026: Saturn 4th or 8th from your Moon
Two other Saturn transits are watched the same way, each about two and a half years long: Saturn in the 4th from the Moon, called Kantaka or Ardhashtama Shani, and Saturn in the 8th, Ashtama Shani. In North India both are known as Shani Dhaiya, or the small panoti.
With Saturn in Meena, Dhanu (Sagittarius) Moon signs have it in the 4th and Simha (Leo) Moon signs have it in the 8th, until 3 June 2027. When Saturn enters Mesha, it passes to Makara (Capricorn) and Kanya (Virgo) Moon signs.
Sade Sati remedies that cost nothing
Traditional remedies for Saturn are about conduct more than purchases, and Horoskope's own practices follow that line: a mantra, a day kept plainly, something given, time with a person.
Keep Saturday simple
It is Shani's day, traditionally kept with less indulgence and more discipline.
Serve and give
Saturn is linked with labour and old age, and the classical remedy is service: helping an older person, or giving to those who work hardest for least.
Chant
The Shani mantra, Om Sham Shanaischaraya Namah, or the Hanuman Chalisa, which many families recite on Saturdays.
Do the slow work
Routines, finishing what you start, paying what you owe. The tradition's view is that Saturn rewards exactly this.
How to check if you are in Sade Sati
You need your Moon sign on the sidereal zodiac: your Rashi. It is often one sign earlier than your Western Moon sign, and it has nothing to do with your Sun sign, so a Pisces Sun does not mean Sade Sati. Find your Rashi with the free Rashi calculator, then read your row in the table above. Sun sign, Moon sign, Rashi, Lagna explains why the signs differ.
In Horoskope, Pro sends an alert when something real turns in your chart, such as a chapter change or a planet changing sign, so a new phase of Sade Sati is not something you have to track yourself.
